For the electronics design engineer, choosing the right T&M kit for the application or stage of product development is crucial.
With the myriad of options in the marketplace vying for the engineer’s attention, plus the associated cost of buying the equipment, is time consuming and expensive. In addition, there’s the restriction of limited access to ‘touch and feel’ the latest instruments and assess their suitability for the task. All in all this makes buying test and measurement equipment a considered purchase.
This free half-day seminar and workshop, created by the Electronics World team, will focus on the latest developments in the world of electronic test and measurement.
In addition to informing and educating, there will be live demonstrations of the latest instruments, plus a forum-style Q&A session and expert analysis, as well as hands-on tutorials.
Themes covered will include:
- LTE Testing
- Best practice
- Signal generation
- Ask the expert advice
- Design considerations
- From Design to prototype
- RF and microwave test systems
- High speed real-time power measurement
- Waveforms measurement analogue and digital
Register for this free half-day seminar, and also guarantee priority access to the post event presentations.
We will be updating the agenda regularly, so please keep checking back for further updates.
Presentation: I need to measure power or efficiency. What should I use? An Oscilloscope, a Power Analyser or a Precision Power Scope?
Speaker: Clive Davis, BSc, MBA, Yokogawa
Many types of instrument can be used to measure power. This master class will help you to understand their differences and to identify the most suitable solution for your application or stage in development or testing.
Yokogawa has been developing measurement solutions for nearly 100 years, consistently finding new ways to give R&D teams the tools they need to gain the best insights from their measurement strategies. The company has pioneered accurate power measurement throughout its history, and is the market leader in digital power analysers.
Presentation: Cell site and network evolution
Speaker: Paul Gowans, Global Marketing Manager, LTE Test Solutions, JDSU
Wireless coverage and capacity with the need to access mobile apps from anywhere continues to drive the market. The traditional copper based macro cell site is evolving embracing the need to meet the ever increasing demands of the hungry handsets (and hungry watches!). Networks are now formed from a variety of Radio Access Networks (RANs): HetNets, DAS, Small Cells, WiFi and Macro. Fiber is becoming the dominant technology both in the Backhaul and now the Fronthaul countering some of the issues relating to Coaxial cables.
At the same time, LTE continues to expand with LTE Advanced (Carrier Aggregation), MIMO, LTE Broadcast (eMBMS) and now VoLTE.
So, what’s needed to ensure the Contractors, Installers, NEMs and Operators have the tools and products to meet these ever growing turn-up and management demands to ensure a high QoE ? This cannot be left to chance and solutions must evolve to meet these needs.
Presentation: HD4096 Oscilloscope Technology
Speaker: Tony Minchell, Applications Engineer, Teledyne LeCroy

Using Cost of Ownership Analysis to identify your optimum acquisition strategy.
Speaker: Alasdair Cook, Account Manager UK, Electro Rent Europe
Professor, Dr, Dogan Ibrahim
MSc Automatic Control Engineering, University of Manchester
Clive Davis, BSc, MBA, Marketing Manager, Yokogawa Test and Measurement
Clive Davis studied Physics and Electronics at Brunel University. After a period as a development engineer in the field of non destructive testing, he joined the world of test and measurement in 1985 and has gained nearly 30 years of practical experience in helping engineers solve their measurement challenges. He has written numerous articles on measuring techniques and applications in the fields of power and waveform measurement.
Currently he is the Marketing Manager for Yokogawa Test and Measurement for Europe and Africa, based in the Netherlands.
