GS Yuasa to establish new lithium-ion battery plant in Hungary

GS Yuasa will establish a new manufacturing subsidiary company, GS Yuasa Hungary Ltd, and buildĀ a new manufacturing plant for lithium-ion batteries in Miskolc.

The new plant will assemble lithium-ion batteries with lithium-ion cells made in Japan, for SLI (Starting, Lighting, and Ignition) applications that are expected to be expanded in the European market. GS Yuasa will also consider manufacturing lithium-ion cells in this plant in future.

GS Yuasa invested some 3.5 million euros in the new plant, which will be housed on a site of 140,000m2, and have annual production capacity of 500,000 batteries.

GS Yuasa is at the forefront of lead acid battery technology since the early part of the 20th century. The company focuses on new developments, applying research and investing in modern production plants to meet the increasing demands of a power-hungry world.
